BKSK recently renovated a 5-story townhouse for a young family in the West Village. This new home marks a move from their Soho loft – also designed by BKSK – to a residence that better accommodates the spacial needs of a growing family. The ground floor maintains the loft-like quality of their previous home, with an open floor plan connecting the foyer, living room, dining room, and kitchen. The kitchen is framed on one side with a folding glass wall that opens fully, providing ready access to an intimate rear yard during nice weather.

The modern stair features dark wood and metal, and a unique, delicate woven leather railing detail. On the second floor, the living room opens onto a glass block terrace floor, flooding the kitchen below with natural light. The house is infused with the spirit of the residents, celebrating their personal collection of art and furniture, providing a warm environment perfect for family and entertaining.

Throughout the house, additional pieces of furniture were custom-designed to integrate seamlessly with both the eclectic furnishings and contemporary architectural design, including a custom credenza and multiple built-in storage and desk solutions.

The most intimate areas of the home, the bathrooms and master suite, evoke warmth and simplicity with a touch of whimsy, as color, pattern, and texture are used to complement the neutral architectural palette.
